The original Virgil’s root beer is about as average as a root beer could be. For me, it’s fine but it could be a lot better. And enter the special edition Bavarian Nutmeg root beer by Virgil’s. It actually tastes pretty good and your taste buds are assaulted with some heavy nutmeg flavor on the aftertaste. It has hints of vanilla and cinnamon too. Almost like Christmas in the mouth. But the fancy bottle comes at a hefty price tag at twice the price of a regular bottle of root beer. It was right around the $5 mark. I can’t quite justify a price that steep. Sometimes you have to pay for quality and it’s an above average flavor but I don’t think I’ll get it again.
