There’s only a couple of root beers in the 60+ I’ve tried thus far that I have been unable to completely finish. Big Ben’s, unfortunately, adds to that number. First of all, I already had low hopes due to the label. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but in my journey, some of the most uninspiring labels have been some of the most uninteresting root beers. Second, the taste is awful! It’s watered down and any root beer taste is muted well beyond recognition. There’s a slight sweetness, but it’s quickly absorbed by a bitter aftertaste. I can’t even figure out why it’s so bitter. I tried to continue on with the bottle to see if anything would change but, in the end, it did not. Out of 63 root beers I’ve reviewed thus far, this particular one and nine others have hit the bottom of the barrel “Don’t Waste Your Time/Money” category. If you love root beers or craft sodas, steer clear of this one! The label says “satisfying” but I ask, to whom?
