No. 66 – Triple XXX

No. 66 – Triple XXX

I’ve got so much to cover for this review and so little time so bear with me. First off, the Xs in the name harkens back to the ye olde golden days of the late 1800s/early 1900s to classify certain goods. One X would mark the particular product as acceptable and three Xs would mark it as elite. Triple XXX has an interesting history that I would do a disservice trying to include everything here. But in its heyday of the 1920s & 30s, the brand had numerous locations in the Midwest that served root beer. Only one location remains and it is northwest of Indianapolis & it’s already on my bucket list. I’ll include a picture but it’s one of those old school places with comfort food that looks delicious. On to the root beer. It’s on my top tier list. It’s a smooth, creamy, vanilla forward root beer. This one would be absolutely perfect for a float. And what I think best of all is that there is a great caramel aftertaste that sits in your mouth. Of all the root beers I’ve had, this is easily one of the smoothest out there. There’s no harshness & no bitterness to speak of in drinking this. The brand history is great, the last restaurant looks amazing, and the root beer is superb. I would get this again in a heartbeat, especially to try as a float. It has earned all three Xs in its name. Now, who’s ready for a road trip??
