I believe I said it before in a previous review but the epicenter of great root beer is in the Midwest, particularly Wisconsin. Northern Soda Company is made in Minnesota which is next door to the Badger state & also many consider it still part of the Midwest. So, consider all that a poor man’s foreshadowing to the end of the review. Also, this won’t be the last time you see a review for this company. They make a couple different varieties of root beer so you’ll see them somewhere along the way of the safari. Now, the regular version is superb! I wished they made it in a bottle vs a can but even still, it blows a lot of bottled root beer out of the water. It has such a complex taste as well. It’s smooth, has a bit of a spice kick that lingers long after you drink it. There’s just a hint of wintergreen and vanilla is more prominent in the aftertaste. Because the flavor is so complex and everything just mixes so well, ultimately it is a top tier brand. I don’t have high hopes for their other varieties of root beer because it’s impossible to get much better than this one but I am willing to give them a try! If you want a root beer that lingers a bit after you drink it, this one fits that bill! And I forgot to mention the can itself! It’s as colorful as they come and it’s an awesome throwback to the 1950s. In fact, all of their cans for their other craft drinks are designed well and all look fun and retro inspired.
