No. 80 – Olde Brookyln

I’ve been on a streak of poor root beers lately. I had hoped this one would end the streak. Again, this is courtesy of my good friends, Chris & Anna Harris. It’s another label under the Sprecher brand and the last one I’ve yet to try. I’ve only got one root beer left to go under the Sprecher brand and it’s their fully caffeinated Sprecher root beer. I didn’t know what to expect with this particular one but I think after a slew of bad brews, my expectations were low anyway. Anyway, Olde Brooklyn starts off weak and just gets worse. To me, it tastes incredibly weak, there’s literally no carbonation to speak of, & it seems to be watered down that any root beer flavor is gone. And then, not even halfway through the bottle, all you can taste is wintergreen. Chris likened it to them putting wintergreen mints in caramel colored water & then passing it off as root beer. I almost wanted to put this in the average or below average camp but after thinking about it, I don’t think my fellow root beer fans should even consider buying this & wasting their time.
