Chris & Jennifer Sawyer discovered this little gem during their quick visit to Gettysburg. I visited Gettysburg back in 2017 but at the time, searching for hard-to-find root beers really wasn’t on my radar. Gettysburg is such a beautiful place juxtaposed with such a bloody battlefield. So, how is Doctor G’s 161st Gettysburg? It definitely gives off old school root beer/sarsaparilla vibes. It’s slightly bitter, a little creamy, with just a tad sweetness. There’s no overwhelming flavor to be had, however, and what is there, slips by pretty quickly. It’s fine but if I ever find my way to Gettysburg again, I doubt I’ll be searching for it. Because it’s totally old school, I’ll throw it in the average category. I seriously doubt anyone reading my reviews will actually find it unless your travels make it to Gettysburg. And by the way, if you do make it to the battlefield, you are going to be overwhelmed by the vastness of it, especially with the numerous memorials & monuments, and the beautiful scenery all around.
