No. 85 – Old Red Eye

Oh, there is so much potential to be had here. It has a great carbonation that hits you up front and a good creamy flavor toward the middle. However, and it’s a big however, the flavors are a bit too much. There’s too much wintergreen and too much black licorice flavor to call this a particularly great root beer. If they were to dial those flavors back some, it would probably be an above average root beer for me. There’s just too much minty flavor, especially in the aftertaste. Also, it’s a little too sweet for my liking. It’s an average root beer in my ranking, particularly for the too much wintergreen.
