Sprecher Rev’d Up marks the last current Sprecher root beer for me to review. If they decide to make a different variety, of course I’ll have to find it & review it. This is courtesy of my root beer brother Chris Sawyer & his wife Jennifer Sawyer. They have treated me well on this journey & I think I’ll keep them around. Now, Sprecher Rev’d Up is essentially the regular Sprecher but just with caffeine. Most root beers, save very few like Barq’s, are caffeine free. The loaded version of Sprecher tastes like the regular version. If there was something different, I sure couldn’t taste it. It has 93 mg of caffeine in the bottle & I’m not about to figure out how that compares to other drinks. Somebody who has more time on their hands can do that. Honestly, I’m not sure why this exists other than to appeal to those who need a jolt of caffeine that you don’t normally get with root beer. I’m not here to judge the caffeine though but the actual taste of the root beer. It tastes just like the regular version which is tied with Barq’s as being the absolute best of the best. So, by default, this slides into the top tier category. I would rate it on the lower end of the category due to the caffeine intake but regardless, top tier is top tier. And if you’re wondering, I didn’t drink the whole bottle as I was worried if that much caffeine would inversely affect me.
