This milestone review is going out on National Root Beer Day so cheers everyone. It’s neat how everything fell together. Now, I knew going in that trying to find a perfect root beer for the one hundredth review would be next to impossible but I figured a better way is to bookend my very first review with this one. Little did David Arwood know several years ago when he gave me the regular version of Dang! Butterscotch that I would run off and review more. The regular version is amazing & easily sits in my top 5 overall of root beers I have tried. I didn’t have too high hopes for the diet version & I was blown away on how good it tasted. Like the regular version, it is such a smooth root beer with a nice, creamy butterscotch flavor that sits in your mouth long after you drink it. There’s a slight bitterness due to the lack of sugar but it’s masked very nicely by the butterscotch. It reminds me so much of the regular version that it’s quite surprising. I was going to put it in the above average category “just because it’s diet” but honestly, this is the best diet root beer I have had thus far. It lands in the top tier status, several rungs down below its regular brother. It is highly recommended, especially for those who have to watch their sugar intake.
