No. 107 – Jones

No. 107 – Jones

Back in the ye olden age of my college years, I experimented with the various weird drinks of Jones Soda. I know, I was wild and crazy, right? I remember being thoroughly disgusted with the Thanksgiving holiday flavors, bacon, and peanut butter and jelly sodas. And I vividly still recall when Target carried about half of aisle of Jones drinks. Now, a trip down memory lane did not include me drinking their root beer at the time. I don’t recall seeing it as I was more interested in the wacky flavors but I’m nearly 100% sure that it had to be sitting on the shelf. So, picking up a bottle of Jones brings back a sense of nostalgia & a simpler time where I didn’t have to worry about bills & keeping a little human alive. And even though I’m always on the search for root beer, I’m glad I picked this up. This is a really, really good root beer & definitely not in the same ballpark as their weird and wacky flavors. It’s got a fairly harsh bite, a la Barq’s, to start off with. It’s got a really nice carbonation and it’s not too sweet either. The aftertaste is almost fruity, almost cream soda-like. Regardless, it’s a fairly straightforward drink but so are stalwarts A&W & Barq’s. It doesn’t have to be a complex brew to drop it into the top tier category which is where Jones belongs. I definitely would get this again, if I wasn’t on the search for all the root beers. First world problems, am I right?
