No. 117 – Rocket Fizz

No. 117 – Rocket Fizz

The first review of 2025 comes 4 months into the year. Finding root beers that I haven’t yet tried has become increasingly difficult though still not yet totally impossible. I’ve always said I won’t review store brand root beers (largely because they all taste the same and/or largely serviceable and forgettable). Though, this root beer it may seem like I am not following my own rule. Many of the root beers I’ve reviewed rather recently have come from a store called Rocket Fizz. If you ever been to Cracker Barrel and noticed the little section of nostalgic candies & bottle drinks, then Rocket Fizz is a full-fledged store in that vein. How is their name brand root beer? Mediocre at best, forgettable at worst, just like a name brand root beer would be. It has a good herbal bite (a la Barq’s) but that’s about all it has going for it. It’s incredibly sweet and the flavor is watered down. There is a vanilla/wintergreen aftertaste that didn’t sit well with me. The flavors just didn’t gel. I know what a good root beer float tastes like & pretty much every “root beer float” flavored root beer I’ve tried thus far are nowhere close to that delicious combo. Overall, this is an average drink, because at the very least I finished it unlike some of the lower drinks on this ever-growing list.
