No. 131 – Route 66 Road Side

No. 131 – Route 66 Road Side

2 things before I kick off this review. 1) Yes, the mother road has another branded review & if you came across it before or if you’re new here, it’s No. 83 in this grand safari. I’m not sure why Route 66 needs two branded root beers but here we are. Are they related or bottled by the same company? Not that I’m aware. 2) This particular brand must have gotten a rather recent name change. Up until fairly recently, the name of this root beer was Route 66 Mother Road. So, if you happen to google it, you will likely see pictures of the Mother Road bottles instead of Road Side. Either way, the bottles look identical, just a changing of the name. I assume the taste has not changed either.

That being said, Route 66 Road Side root beer is fine. Like the other Route 66 branded root beer, this one is fine, a good bottle to take on the long highway across America. But good reader, I’d implore you to buy some better root beers for your journey. This one is just way too sweet and the overwhelming creaminess of the drink just distracts from any flavor that you might get otherwise. There really is no actual flavors to bring to the forefront of the drink, it’s just a smooth creamy carbonation from start to finish. And with that, it’s just an average experience. Route 66 deserves a bit better in the root beer department but with two branded drinks already, I doubt I’d ever come across any more in the future.
